On 17 October 2026, Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport in central northern Bulgaria will host Aviation Day 2026, a national forum designed to connect aviation, business, institutions, education and new mobility. Rather than presenting itself as a conventional air show, the event is built around a wider economic question: how can aviation infrastructure become a catalyst for regional investment?

Gorna Oryahovitsa has a strong case to make. The city sits at the intersection of rail, road and air transport and has an established industrial base. Close to the airport, the Ryahovets Industrial Park is being developed on more than 302,000 square metres, with more than EUR 12 million secured for infrastructure. The airport itself has potential across civil and business aviation, cargo, aircraft maintenance and training.

Aviation Day will translate that development agenda into a public and business-facing format. The programme includes aviation demonstrations, a static aircraft display, technology and exhibitor zones, a premium automotive showcase and an invitation-only business forum. Diamond Aircraft and Range Rover are listed as strategic partners, while Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport is the host, the Municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa supports the event and TouchPoint is the organizational partner.
One of the most closely watched elements will be the presentation of Diamond Aircraft in Bulgaria. Aircraft models scheduled for the event include the DA40 NG, DA42-VI, DA50 RG and DA62, giving aviation professionals, flight schools, potential customers and investors an opportunity to see a modern light-aircraft portfolio in one setting.

The forum is expected to bring together representatives of aviation, business, public institutions, academia and international partners. Organizers are positioning the closed business component as a practical environment for partnership building rather than a ceremonial conference.
The event also has a public dimension. Families, students, media and aviation enthusiasts are expected at the airport, where aviation demonstrations and exhibition areas will run alongside artistic performances and hospitality zones.

For Gorna Oryahovitsa, the significance goes beyond one October weekend. The larger objective is to strengthen the airport’s role as a platform for cargo, technical aviation services, business aviation, training and investment. Aviation Day 2026 is therefore both a showcase and a statement of intent: Bulgaria’s regional infrastructure wants a larger place on the European aviation and logistics map.
